The fall-winter collection of one of the most significant shoe designers, Nicholas Kirkwood, is markedly differing from other collections, due to the predominance of the monochromatic color palette. Withal, his unique style is still recognizable in every model.
The designer decided to go the whole hog in the creation of the collection, and has filmed the eponymous short film “Dark Matter”. The style that is characteristic for the 80’s is immediately striking into the eye. There was a kind of synthesis going on, between French electro and New Wave English music. This is a very daring solution, resulting in complicated geometrical shapes, a mixture of innovative ideas and expensive materials.
In the collection for this season by Nicholas Kirkwood, the Casati pearl-heel leather knee-high boots had made an appearance. The rigid protector sole made of rubber in tandem with a large pearl behind the heel is like the eternal confrontation of male and female, the favorite subject of the designer.
And of course, Nicholas Kirkwood used metal in his collection. It was used in the creation of hexagonal buckles and metallic heels and frames that perform not only a decorative function but also a functional one.
“Dark Matter” underscores the unique style of Nicholas Kirkwood, creating a very telic, far-sighted and outstanding collection.
