Our acquaintanceship with Tatiana Poleakova has begun on facebook – this world wide book with faces. It happened when I just started using facebook, back then when I have been using it mostly as an instrument for finding interesting people for me, through their visual identity. One of the attractive visuals for me was Tatiana Poleakova. I don’t hesitate to offer friendship to interesting people on facebook, this is how our communication started.

Later, I found out that Tatiana is an expert in international etiquette. This is how me and Irina Novikova – the author of the popular tv show “Novaya ya”, decided to invite this interesting person to Republic of Moldova for a master class. The master class was held in October 2015, and it had the topic “Ethno chic”. Tatiana discussed the ways to add an ethno – accent, the importance of self-presentation and self-expression; she shared ideas for ethno-looks for every situation. Also, we have discussed the eclecticism of western rules and the sensibility and the wisdom of the oriental culture. Tatiana Poleakova told us that ethno chic is first of all a freedom gained through the knowledge of ethnology; it is a different path in fashion; it is a way to have your own and unique ethno –style. Tatiana proved on her own example that her ethno-look can express the style and is as good as the contemporary fashion is.

In addition to the professional knowledge of etiquette, Tatiana is passionate by ethnography: history, culture, traditions, crafts, ethno-objects. During her visit to Moldova, we decided to please our guest and also to brag our ethno carpets. We have visited the museum of carpets, near Orhei. The owner of this museum is a fantastic woman, that is an inherit carpet weaver. She has created modern carpets from old sketches for her museum, and also a successful business, thanks to the value of handmade ethno carpets. Tatiana surprised and pleased us when she told us that the floors in the showroom of the popular designer Pliembe, in Milano are covered by moldavian carpets with roses. We also have visited the Moldavian Museum of Ethnography. She was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there where fabrics that produced qualitative shirts, silk factory, a factory for print crepe de chine production and of exquisite print design in Soviet Union.

The personal acquaintanceship with Tatiana Poleakova hasn’t destroyed the image of her that I created based on her facebook page. Through the interesting discussion that we had, I could discover some new and interesting details about this person. I am glad that we successfully holded the “Ethno Chic” master class. I am sure that in the future there will be a lot of other occasions to create some events with her involvement.
